Yunnan Wenshan Hydro-Aluminum Co.Ltd., (under the Yunnan Aluminum Group) started development of its 500 ktpy hydro-aluminium project (phase I of a 1 mtpy project) in December 2017. At present, 50% of construction is complete and major equipment installation is expected to be finished by end-March 2020. After one month of commissioning and trial operation, the project is expected to come online formally in mid-May 2020.
Yunnan Wenshan hydro-aluminium project, located at Matang Industrial Park has been designed with 1 mtpy primary aluminium capacity; 500 ktpy capacity in phase I comprising 368 sets of 500 kA electrolytic cells.
