Designed with 400 ktpy capacity and comprising 308 sets of 500kA electrolytic cells, construction of the SPIC Baiyinhua aluminium smelter began in Q2 2019.

Backed by total investment of RMB 3.5 bln, the project also involves development of an associated thermal power plant with two x 350MW power generators. Construction has been interrupted by the long winter season in northern China. Consequently, project development won’t start until early April 2020 and is scheduled to come online in Q3 2020 with 2020 output estimated at 10 kt.

Mainstream aluminium ingot transaction prices were RMB13,510~13,610/t at Shanghai warehouses this Monday, a drop of RMB 10/t on Monday.
