Shanghai Nonferrous Metals News

SMM: China produced 7,520 t of refined tin in November, down 24.6% m-o-m. The decline can be mainly attributed to overhauls at Yunnan Tin Group, ad-hoc maintenance at other smelters and suspensions at some smelters in Yunnan and Jiangxi during November.

China produced 129.65 kt of refined tin during the first 11 months of 2019, down 9.48% or 13.58 kt y-o-y. The operational rate of domestic refined tin smelters has dropped to 31.3% in November, a four-year record low. With the fast approaching Chinese New Year holiday (24th January 2020), some producers are looking to start holiday plans early, consequently curbing monthly output. Yunnan Tin Group is set to restart operations this month, which is likely to boost overall domestic refined tin output to 10 kt in December 2019.
