Shuntai magnesium smelter in Debao Shaanxi is set to suspend operations for maintenance for two weeks, starting from 20th July to 5th August 2022. The company produced 1.2 kt of magnesium in June and expects 800 t of magnesium production in July.
It is reported that an increasing number of local Shaanxi magnesium smelters suspended operations and ran maintenance amid harsh summer heat and weak prices.
Mainstream magnesium prices are RMB 24,600~25,000/t ex-work by cash at present, a dip of RMB 100/t from last week and prices are expected to fall further next week.
