Chalco Shanxi Huaxing alumina refinery has three alumina production lines; one 1 mtpy and two 500 ktpy lines. The company has reached full capacity operation after resumption of a 500 ktpy alumina production line and increasing bauxite supply from its mines on 1st June.
The company is targeting 150 kt of alumina output in June, up from 110 kt in May. It chiefly supplies alumina to a Chalco smelter in IM and currently holds no stock.
The company produced 1.3 mln t of alumina in 2019 and its total output for the year to date is 470 kt.
At present, mainstream alumina prices stand at RMB 2,170~2,220/t ex-works in Shanxi, up by RMB10/t from last Friday. The market appears flat with most refineries delivering on long-term contracts only.
