August 16, SMM: Shandong Xinhai (Singapore) Co. Ltd. and Silkroad Nickel Ltd. signed a MOU regarding the development of a 400 ktpy RKEF NPI project in Indonesia.
SMM data shows Shandong Xinhai’s July NPI output accounted for more than 25% of the national total. Xinhai is a licensed RKEF operator, operating in strict accordance with environmental requirements in China. The company is an integrated producer with 1.4 GW of thermal power plants and is capable of producing NPI alloys. Silkroad Nickel will supply the nickel laterite needed for NPI smelting at the JV smelter.
