Antaike’s survey of 75 domestic primary aluminium smelters showed weighted average production cost based on market prices for these smelters was RMB 13,888/t in July, a significant decline of RMB 586/t from June. Meanwhile, July’s average primary aluminium price was RMB 13,796/t, down by RMB 178/t from June, indicative of average losses of RMB 92/t across the industry, a much smaller loss than that in June.
