7th March: Mainstream magnesium export prices fell to USD 3,080~3,130/t FOB China with taxes, down by USD 30/t from last Thursday and down by USD 130/t from last Monday, a result of sluggish global demand. In view of continuing weak demand and fierce competition among sellers, industry commentators forecast China’s magnesium export prices to fall further this week.

A northern smelter sold 20 t of magnesium at USD 3,100/t early last week and reduced its offers to USD 3,030/t this week, but no buyers were interested. The smelter projects prices to fall further by USD 30/t this week in view of weakening overseas demand.
