MEE, the Ministry of Ecology and Environmental Protection has just published “Guidance on Strengthening the Approval of High Energy Consumption/Emission Projects from the Source”, emphasizing stricter criteria for approvals of high energy consumption/emission projects.

According to the document, petrochemical and modern coal chemical projects should be included in national industrial planning. Any newly built or expanded petrochemical, chemical, coking, non-ferrous metal smelting and flat glass projects are to be located in industrial parks, established according to law and after EIA assessment.
