MCC (China Metallurgical Corporation of China) announced on Monday that its NPI smelters in Papua New Guinea had been restarted and had resumed normal operations after a short suspension. Last week, MCC received permission from the local government to restart the smelter with a gradual ramp up to full operation. The smelter was forced to shut down temporarily due to insufficient work done to rectify problems after a mud leak in August.
