Shanghai Nonferrous Metals News

In response to an increasing number of COVID-19 cases, Lianyungang port has announced that all inbound vessels must pass a quarantine test at anchorage before proceeding to dock for unloading. All inbound vessels will be tested after at least 14 days from the date of departure from their home port.

Lianyungang is the largest nickel laterite handling port in China. The enhanced quarantine measures have resulted in mounting inventories at the port. According to SMM, there is no delays in shipping schedules as yet. However, if the pandemic continues to rage outside China, extended quarantine periods can be expected to interrupt shipping schedules, cause delays and lead to tightening shipping capacity.
