IM Heyi, a major NPI smelter (10% Ni) in IM, is set to restart two production lines next week after completing maintenance.

According to an internal source, the company expects to increase its NPI output by 4 kt in May after the restart. Designed with NPI production capacity of 300 ktpy, the company has two sets of 33,000 kVA EFs and produced 95 kt of NPI in 2020. Its April output is estimated at 4 kt, which will double to 8 kt in May 2021.

Mainstream domestic NPI (10% Ni) prices stood at RMB1,060~1,080/mtu this Thursday, down by RMB10/mtu. Industry commentators forecast domestic NPI (10% Ni) prices will hold stable next week, given steady market transactions.
