Henan Yixiang refinery has decided to suspend one alumina calcination furnace and begin an environmental upgrade by end-October, which is scheduled to take a month to complete. Consequently, Yixiang will have no alumina output in November. The company produced 45 kt of alumina in October and holds no stock at present.

Henan Yixiang refinery, designed with 700 ktpy alumina capacity, has one 100 ktpy and a 600 ktpy production line. Only the 600 ktpy production line has been operational in 2019, and the company plans to produce 600 kt of alumina in 2019, the same level as last year.

Yixiang has three captive bauxite mines, with total 500 ktpy capacity; however it still needs to seek a large amount of bauxite supply from the market. Yixiang consumed 110 kt of bauxite for refining in October and currently holds 65 in stock- capable of sustaining 20 days’ operation.

At present, bauxite prices with A/S 5.0 grades stand at RMB450/t (ex-work, without taxes) in Henan.
