Guangyuan Linfeng Aluminium and Electricity Co. Ltd., is set to start its Phase II 125 ktpy primary aluminium project in June.

The project includes 250 ktpy primary aluminium production capacity to be built in two phases. Phase I (125 ktpy) was powered up in late February 2020 and is now operating smoothly. Phase II was originally scheduled to come online in April but has been postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The company is presently producing aluminium ingots but will switch to liquid aluminium production after its own downstream aluminium alloy and aluminium rod producer comes online in June. The company produced 10 kt of primary aluminium in March and its April output expected to be the same. It currently holds no stock.

Mainstream aluminium ingot transaction prices were RMB11,630 at Guangzhou warehouses last Thursday, a rise of RMB 40/t on Wednesday.
