Guangyuan Linfeng Aluminium and Electricity Co. Ltd., has decided to postpone its Phase II primary aluminium by one month.

The project includes 250 ktpy capacity of primary aluminium production lines to be built in two phases. Phase I (125 ktpy) was powered up in late January 2020 and is now operating smoothly. Phase II was originally scheduled to come online in mid-March but has been postponed by a month as workers are not ready to begin operation. Meanwhile, Linfeng is not making profit, with aluminium prices falling to RMB12,800/t.

The company set its output target at 10 kt for March, the same as February. Their annual production target is 200 kt.

Mainstream aluminium ingot transaction prices were RMB12,760~12,860/t at Shanghai warehouses this Wednesday, a drop of RMB 10/t on Tuesday.
