Domestic refined zinc output has been rising gradually following the resumption of operations at large smelters, consequently driving up demand for zinc concentrates. Domestic zinc smelters have been keen to produce, with PCs (processing charges) for imported zinc concentrates stable at a historical high point, boosting consumption of zinc concentrates.

Meanwhile, the Mount Isa railway for zinc concentrate transportation resumed operations at end-April after being suspended due to severe floods in Australia. As a result, Australia’s zinc concentrate exports to China increased by 58.5 kt on-month to 95 kt in May, contributing the largest growth in China’s May imports.
