Domestic supply of tungsten concentrates was tight in the week leading up to the National Day holiday period (1~7 October), buoying prices up to RMB90,000/t. At present, wolframite (65% WO3) mainstream quotations are at RMB89,000~91,000/standard t; scheelite (65% WO3) is at RMB 88,000~89,000/standard t and tungsten concentrates (50~55% grade) at RMB 85,000~87,000/standard t.
Domestic APT prices have been on the rise, seeing mainstream quotations lifting to RMB137,000~142,000/t and actual mainstream transaction prices exceeding RMB135,000/t. Market commentators forecast the domestic tungsten market will be stable after the National Holiday (7th October week), however, it is unclear whether prices will trend up further.
