Approximately 50% of domestic refined tin smelters have resumed operations after containment of COVID-19 in China. China produced 12 kt of refined zinc in March, up 59.9% from February.

The tin ore supply shortage from Burma is likely to continue in the short-term as tin miners remain inactive due to the global pandemic. Accordingly, China’s refined tin output is estimated to drop to 11 kt in April following possible production cuts by smelters.
