Mainstream domestic magnesium prices were stable at RMB 21,400~21,700/t this week, led by lackluster demand.
A northern magnesium smelter sold 62 t of magnesium at RMB 21,500/t on Monday and sold an additional 100 t at the same price today. It turned down an offer from a regular buyer at RMB 21,400/t for 62 t of magnesium yesterday, claiming it was at the brink of being in loss. Industry commentators project prices to remain weak at low levels next week in view of sluggish demand and cautious buyers.
