Domestic magnesium prices edged up slightly in the wake of increased production cuts at smelters and rising FeSi prices. At present, mainstream magnesium transaction prices are RMB13,100~13,200/t in Fugu Shaanxi and RMB13,500~13,600/t in Wenxi Shanxi.
Several magnesium smelters started maintenance ahead of their original schedules last week amid hot weather and a bleak market outlook.
