Domestic magnesium prices fell slightly amid weakening downstream demand last week. As of 10th June 2021, mainstream magnesium prices were being quoted at RMB18,500/t ex-works, with transaction prices sitting at the same level in Fugu Shaanxi. In Wenxi Shanxi, prices were RMB18,700~18,000/t/t, falling by RMB500/t w-o-w.
Downstream buyers were uninterested in high-level quotes, but thanks to limited stocks at smelters and high production costs, (led by strong coal and FeSi prices), domestic magnesium prices are expected to be stable this week.
