China produced 2.95 billion lithium-ion batteries in January and February 2021, up by 108% y-o-y. The output of lead-acid batteries was 40.85 mln KVAh, up 88.7% y-o-y. The output of primary batteries and primary battery packs (non button) was 6.15 billion, up 54.9% y-o-y.

China’s power battery production reached 21.5 Gwh in January and February 2021, up 467.3% y-o-y. Of this figure, the output of ternary batteries was 12 Gwh, accounting for 55.7% of the total, with y-o-y growth of 385.1%. The output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 9.5 Gwh, accounting for 44.3% total output, up 624.2% y-o-y.

During January and February 2021, China’s power battery volume in EVs reached 14.2 Gwh, up 388.6% y-o-y. Of this result, 8.7 Gwh ternary batteries were loaded to EVs, accounting for 61.3% of the total, an increase of 315.5% y-o-y; 5.5 Gwh lithium iron of phosphate batteries were loaded to EVs, accounting for 38.6% of the total and up 586.8% y-o-y, both showing rapid momentum in growth.
