China’s magnesium exports slowed in the wake of weaker global demand and a gloomy outlook going forward. Declining magnesium prices on the domestic market in conjunction with higher USD/RMB exchange rates has driven mainstream magnesium export prices back to USD 5,900~6,000/t FOB China with taxes, down by USD 200/t from last Friday. Given a lackluster market momentum and fierce price competition among traders, industry commentators forecast China’s magnesium export prices to drop further over the short term.
