Shanxi Chalco Huarun, designed with 500 ktpy of primary aluminium capacity brought its phase II 125 ktpy primary aluminum project online last week.

The company has been operating at 125 ktpy capacity over the past six months and originally planned to start phase II of 125 ktpy aluminium capacity by end-April. However, the plan was delayed due to power supply shortages. With improved power supply since July, the company is now operating at 250 ktpy capacity, comprising 180 sets of 500 kA cells.

Chalco Shanxi produced 10 kt primary aluminium in June and its July output is expected at 14 kt, and August 20 kt.

Mainstream aluminium ingot transaction prices were RMB 13,810~13,910/t at Shanghai warehouses last Friday, up RMB 10/t on last Wednesday.
