Baise Mining Group currently is looking for high-grade alumina supply for production of high purity aluminium which is widely used in the aviation and electronic industry.
According to an inside source, alumina produced locally in Guangxi is high in zinc and gallium content (100 ppm), cannot match the requirement for high purity aluminium production (<50 ppm). The company set up 30 segregation furnace (total capacity of 10 ktpy) in 2018 and has decided to begin trial operation of high purity aluminium in 2020, using Australian alumina.
At present, Australian alumina prices sat at USD280/t FOB, the same as last week.
