Shanxi Bada Magnesium prices are set to increase with magnesium production in July to 2.4 kt up by 0.9 kt m-o-m.

The company started vertical retort retrofitting in December 2022 amid a low market and in response to the requirements of industry upgrading, seeing its monthly production dropped by 50% to 1.2 kt. With retrofitting coming to an end, the company is set to resume normal operations in July 2023.

Designed with 30 ktpy capacity, Bada produced 28.5 kt of magnesium in 2022, has made 8.9 kt in the year to date and currently holds no stock.

Mainstream magnesium prices now stand at RMB 20,700~20,900/t by cash, continuing stable w-o-w. Industry commentators forecast domestic magnesium prices to keep stable stay at low levels amid sluggish demand.
