Yingkou Zhongwang Aluminium in Liaoning, designed with 890 ktpy aluminium capacity is set to cut its operations by 50%.
The company has been running at 460 ktpy capacity over the past three months. It suspended 168 x 500 kA cells this Wednesday, comprising 230 kt of primary aluminium capacity. According to an inside source, the company will shut down 12 cells every day.
The company produced 600 kt of aluminium in 2019; its March output was 38 kt and its April output is estimated at 30 kt.
Mainstream aluminium ingot prices stood at RMB11,800/t at Shanghai warehouses today.
