China imported a total of 20.54 kt of tin ore and concentrates during January and February 2021, down 16.8% y-o-y, a decline led by CNY holiday interruptions and slowing logistics due to Covid-19.
Of China’s total imports in January and February 2021, 16.99 kt of tin ore and concentrates were imported from Myanmar, down 26.5% y-o-y. China imported 8.75 kt of tin ore and concentrates from Myanmar in January and 8.24 kt in February 2021.
SMM analysts project China’s tin ore imports from Myanmar will remain low in March due to ongoing Covid-19 control measures. In the meantime, domestic tin ore supply is expected to remain tight over the short-term.
